Hosted by Root The Future, a Thailand based organisation focussed on raising awareness about climate change, Eating Our Way To Extinction was screened on April 30th at Quartier CineArt, one Thailand’s premier cinemas in the centre of Bangkok to an audience of 111 people.

Although social distancing rules meant some seats had to remain empty, all 111 seats available were filled in 10 minutes and a further 250 people had queued up hours before the screening time, in the hopes of getting their hands on a ticket.

The event was covered and/or attended by press such as Greenpeace, Environman, Koktail Magazine, Richard Barrow, CCL film frstival, Der Farang, and organisations such as Humanitarian Affairs Asia and Grin Green Internatonal.

The screening was also attended by celebrities such as Kanticha Chumma, Manow Sorsin, Giada Intorre, Cindy Sirinya Bishop, Sabina Meisinger, Kong Green, and Miki @ingomojo.

Eating Our Way To Extinction seemed to have a huge affect on those who attended the premiere, with many brought to tears throughout the screening. The cinematic footage, music, narration and message were all truly mind blowing and touching in such an immersive setting.

The screening ended with a round of applause and we heard from some of the attendees in a short post-screening discussion. Some mentioned that they felt saddened and empowered by the film, and that they plan to tell everyone they know about the film, while others even announced that they became vegan from this moment forward.

After the discussion and screening were over, 111 plant-based goody bags put together by Root The Future were handed out, full of local plant-based products and discount vouchers donated by the generous plant-based brands across Bangkok, to help to encourage the movie-goers to give plant-based food a try!
